National Survey in Venezuela Indicates Broad Public Support for Sovereignty and Opposition to External Measures

CARACAS, Venezuela — A national public opinion survey conducted in December 2025 indicates broad agreement among Venezuelans in favor of national sovereignty and opposition to external actions perceived as affecting the country’s independence and stability.

The survey was carried out between December 16 and 17, 2025, by the research firm DataViva, based on 2,000 telephone interviews conducted nationwide. The study reports a 95% confidence level with a margin of error of ±1.2%, offering a representative snapshot of public opinion across the country.


According to the findings, 97% of respondents expressed opposition to foreign claims over Venezuela’s natural resources and strategic assets, reflecting strong public support for national ownership and control of key economic resources, including oil.

The survey also found that 92% of participants opposed the possibility of a maritime blockade, with respondents indicating concern about the potential impact such measures could have on the civilian population and the broader economy.

Regarding international classifications, 90% of those surveyed disagreed with the designation of Venezuela as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization,” expressing support for the country’s position in international forums and its efforts to address such characterizations.

When asked about a hypothetical scenario involving foreign military action, approximately 90% of respondents rejected military intervention and supported national defense, suggesting limited public support for the use of force as a means of addressing international disputes.

Overall, the survey results indicate that, despite differing political views within the country, there is a shared public perspective emphasizing sovereignty, peace, and self-determination. The findings point to a notable level of national consensus when respondents consider scenarios involving external influence or intervention.
